Why Is This Site Being Setup?
For many purposes or for no particular reason! Maybe because I want to practise my web programming. Maybe for me to keep a blog for myself. Maybe because I got inspired by many people who keep their own blogs using a free hosted script. I just want to have something similar but it's created and coded from scratch by myself. There are many similar 'Instant Messaging' and 'Blogs' scripts that are hosted for 'free' with advertisements out on the WWW. With these scripts, a user can only submit his/her entry daily which is so restricted. What makes ChenLim.Com special is that these similar scripts are coded and programmed by myself and I can have full control over what I want to do with them!

What Is ChenLim.Com Made Up Of?
This range from basic html to the more advanced scripting and programming. I will list them as follows:

General Static Display / Layout

	HyperText Markup Language: HTML
	Cascading Style Sheet: CSS1, CSS2

Programming / Scripting / Database

	Javascripts: For basic form validation and mouse-over tricks
	PHP Programming: PHP 4 for processing inputs, displaying outputs, etc.
	Structured Query Language: SQL for update, retrieve & deletion of data
	MySQL Database: For Storing All Data

Softwares / Tools Used

	EditPlus 2.11 text editor for all codings
	Adobe Photoshop 7 / CS for manipulating and creating of images / graphics
	CuteFTP Pro 3.1: FTP Software for uploading of files to the server
	Macromedia Dreamweaver MX to generate javascript codes and save lots of time for creating image rollovers
	Apache Web Server / PHP / MySQL Database on my own local computer for testing of scripts before uploading to server

These are inspiration quotes taken from everywhere in my life. Some are created by myself, some are heard or seen from elsewhere, etc, they come from everywhere! All of them are stored in a database. And whenever a page loads, it will randomly select 1 quote out of the whole database for display. Try refreshing your browser to get another random quote!

About the Instant Messaging Box
This instant messaging box is for you to leave a message anytime you feel like doing so throughout your time in browsing ChenLim.Com. It is created and coded from scratch by myself in PHP and powered by a MySQL database. So there's only this One and Only One you can find in the WWW. Something similar can be found easily, but exactly the same? No way. They may look exactly the same from the outside but the coding and programming inside is 100% different.

About the blog and archives
This kind of similar blog system can be seen on lots of personal websites, or some use it for a news portal. However, the biggest and main difference between the blog system in ChenLim.Com and other website is that this system is created and coded from scratch by myself in PHP. So there's only this One and Only One you can find in the WWW. Something similar can be found easily, but exactly the same? No way. They may look exactly the same from the outside but the coding and programming inside is 100% different. I will update the entries almost daily. Some entries marked as 'private and confidential' are entries which I do not wish to disclose to the public, but most of the time, I do not do that. Another interesting thing to take note is that I'm able to send in a new entry via GPRS. Archives are automatically sorted out in a fortnightly basis.
